Are roller skates sold in UK or US sizes?

As a rule of thumb, US women's sizes are about two above UK sizes and US men's about one above, so a UK 7 is roughly a US women's 9 or men's 8. Brands vary, so always check the size chart on the product page before ordering.

What are the best roller skates for adults skating outdoors in the UK?

Look for soft wheels of roughly 78A–85A, which grip and cushion on rough tarmac, and a supportive high-top boot. Most quad skates use standard-size bearings, so the simple fix is a second set of softer outdoor wheels that you swap in for park sessions. Wipe the boots and plates dry after skating on wet ground.

Should an adult beginner choose quad or inline skates?

Quad skates have a wide, four-square wheel base that feels stable standing still, which suits rink skating, dance and roller derby.
