Rucking Gear

Rucking gear for walking with weight on your back: purpose-built ruck packs, plate carriers, cast-iron ruck plates and adjustable weighted vests. The range includes the GORUCK Ruck Plate Carrier and curved ruck plates, side-loading Polyfit rucking backpacks, Yes4All cast-iron plates with strap slots, and vests from BAGAIL, WOLF TACTICAL and Sportneer for those who prefer the load spread around the chest.

A flat ruck plate sits tight against your upper back and stays put, which is why it carries far better than loose dumbbells or books in an everyday rucksack. Keep the load high, between the shoulder blades, and tighten the sternum strap so it can't swing. Start light: many beginners use a single 4.5–9 kg plate and only add weight once distance and pace feel easy. Much rucking kit is designed in the US, so plates are sized at 10, 20 and 30 lb (about 4.5, 9 and 13.6 kg) — check a plate fits your pack's sleeve before you buy.
