BLACK DIAMOND Half Dome Climbing Helmet, Slate S/M — Lightweight Ventilated Adjustable Fit

The BLACK DIAMOND Half Dome is a lightweight, adjustable climbing helmet built for day crags, gym sessions, and alpine approaches that need dependable protection and a comfortable fit.

This classic Half Dome model in slate (size S/M) combines a tough outer shell with an impact-absorbing foam liner, large vents for airflow, and an easy-to-tune suspension system. Designed to balance durability, ventilation, and low weight, it’s a practical choice for climbers who want a helmet that performs across rock, mixed terrain, and gym environments. The integrated headlamp clips and secure chin strap make it ready for early starts or long days on varied routes.

How does the Half Dome protect me without feeling bulky?

The Half Dome uses a hard outer shell fused to foam that disperses impact forces while keeping overall mass low. The shape covers essential head zones and the interior padding smooths contact points so the helmet feels less intrusive during long wear.

• Tough outer shell resists scrapes and punctures on rock.
• Impact-absorbing EPS liner spreads energy from impacts.
• Low-profile form preserves your field of view and balance.
• Lightweight construction minimizes neck strain on long approaches.

What makes the fit adjustable and easy to use?

The Half Dome features a low-profile suspension system and a quick-adjust chin strap for fast, secure fitting. An intuitive adjustment dial lets you tighten or loosen the helmet while wearing gloves or on the move.

• Size S/M tailored to head circumferences around one inch above the brows.
• Quick-adjust rear dial locks the fit in place with a simple turn.
• Padded chin strap with a durable buckle for secure, comfortable wear.
• Internal webbing distributes load evenly, reducing pressure points.

Will it stay cool during long climbs on warm days?

Yes—the Half Dome incorporates generous ventilation ports that maintain airflow and reduce heat buildup during sustained activity. The balanced vent placement helps convect warm air away from your head without compromising protection.

• Multiple large vents promote continuous airflow.
• Internal channels allow heat to escape during hard efforts.
• Vent layout preserves structural integrity and coverage.
• Works equally well in gym and outdoor settings for seasonal versatility.

How does it integrate with climbing gear like headlamps and harnesses?

Designed with practical features for real climbing use, the helmet includes integrated clips for attaching a headlamp and a compact profile that won’t interfere with ropes or harness straps. It’s built to be ready for early starts, belays, and technical moves where hands-free lighting and a stable helmet matter.

• Secure headlamp clips at the front and rear for various light styles.
• Low-profile sides minimize snagging on ropes and ice tools.
• Durable strap hardware withstands repeated adjustments and weather exposure.
• Neutral slate color blends with most outdoor kit for easy coordination.
