Generic Referee/Umpire Timer Lacrosse 20/120 Belt-Clip Game Clock — Loud Buzzer & Strong Vibration

The Universal Referee/Umpire Timer is a compact, belt-clip game clock that provides sport-specific countdowns with strong vibration and an extremely loud buzzer for lacrosse, football, baseball and softball officiating.

This handheld timer fits on a referee or umpire belt and lets you switch between preset timing modes for multiple sports. It runs on two AAA batteries (not included), includes a durable all-metal belt clip, and gives clear tactile and audible cues so officials can manage play clocks, pitch clocks, and play timing without relying on large scoreboard systems.

How do I set this timer for different sports?

Changing the sport mode is done using the four internal switches referenced on the unit's back panel. Lift the lid with a flat-head screwdriver to access the switches and position them according to the printed reference for lacrosse, football, baseball, or softball.

• Open the battery compartment with a flat-head screwdriver to reveal the 4-mode switches.
• Match switch positions to the reference guide on the device for your sport and the desired timing variant (e.g., 20/120 for lacrosse).
• Install 2 AAA batteries observing polarity, then snap the lid closed and flip the external power switch to begin.

What alerts and countdown behavior should I expect during matches?

The timer combines vibrations and a 115 dB buzzer to deliver warnings and expirations; vibration patterns vary by sport and by specific timing setting. Some modes provide short warning pulses at preconfigured intervals, followed by rapid vibrations for the final five seconds and a continuous tone or steady vibration at 0:00.

• Lacrosse (20/120 mode): continuous tone and vibration at 0:00, plus 20s warnings on the 120s setting.
• Football modes: warning vibration at 10s (25s mode) and additional alerts for 40s or 60s settings.
• Baseball/softball: configurable warnings (recent models warn at 8s) and steady vibration at expiration.

How do I customize sound and vibration if I need a quieter or tactile-only alert?

The device includes optional switch combinations to disable sound or vibration independently. Use the internal switches (accessed under the lid) to turn off the buzzer, the vibration motor, or both, depending on your preference or venue requirements.

• To silence the buzzer while keeping vibration, set the internal switches as shown in the manual for no-sound mode.
• To disable vibration but retain audible alerts, select the no-vibration switch combination.
• Always test settings before the game to confirm the selected combination functions as expected.

Additional operational notes: when you power the timer on, it vibrates briefly to indicate activation and the internal LEDs toggle; a short chirp can indicate low battery. For modes that include a five-second countdown the unit will emit six vibrations — begin counting backward at the first vibration. The unit is not waterproof; keep it dry and avoid pointing the buzzer toward ears to prevent hearing damage. Remove batteries for long-term storage or the off-season.

Who is this tool for? Game officials, coaches, and training staff who need a portable, reliable timing device will find this Universal Referee/Umpire Timer useful. It is designed for referees and umpires covering multiple sports, coaches running practice drills, and event staff who require strong tactile and audible timing signals without installing or relying on a venue scoreboard. If you plan to use it for baseball or softball, note that newer units issue an 8-second warning for hitter readiness; contact the seller before ordering if you require a different warning behavior.
