Modiphius Ironsworn: Starforged Deluxe Edition Hardcover RPG — 404-page solo & co-op sci-fi rulebook

Explore a lived‑in galaxy of scavenged technology, derelict vaults, and personal vows with rules that prioritize story and player agency. This deluxe edition collects full-color art, robust generators, campaign starters, and the Ironsworn move system adapted for spacefaring quests. Whether you want a quick solo session or a long campaign with friends, Starforged gives structured tools to create characters, resolve risk, and develop long arcs without heavy preparation.

How do Starforged mechanics resolve risky actions in play?

When you face danger or uncertainty, Starforged uses a three‑die roll driven by fiction-first moves. You roll one action die (d6) and two challenge dice (d10), add a stat to the action die, then compare that action score to each challenge die to determine a strong hit, a weak hit, or a miss.

• Action die + relevant stat equals your action score.
• Beat both challenge dice = strong hit; beat one = weak hit; beat none = miss.
• Each move prescribes consequences, complications, and narrative prompts.
• Moves support solo, co‑op, and guided play with consistent resolution flow.

What tools help me run quick, inspired sessions with no prep?

Starforged includes system‑agnostic generators and creative prompts designed to spawn discoveries and complications on the fly. Campaign launch exercises help you forge a setting and character quickly, while procedural tables and one‑shot hooks keep momentum during play.

• Planet, settlement, and starship generators for instant locations.
• NPC and creature prompts to populate encounters and social stakes.
• Derelict, vault, and mystery tables to build exploration scenes fast.
• Assets formatted as printable cards for quick in‑game reference.

How does character advancement and assets work across sessions?

Experience is earned through quests, discoveries, and bonds, and it’s spent to acquire assets—vehicles, companions, modules, and paths—that expand options and define a character’s growth. Assets are presented as compact cards to keep tracking simple and to encourage tactical decisions tied to your narrative goals.

• Fast, guided character creation defines background, expertise, and goals.
• Experience converts into tangible assets that change play options.
• Assets deepen capabilities while remaining narrative‑focused.
• Bound vows and bonds shape both mechanical rewards and story tension.

What tone and inspirations shape the Starforged setting?

Starforged favors human‑centered science fiction on a harsh frontier: scavenged gear, isolated stations, and fragile communities. The book offers guidance to lean into styles from workaday space westerns to cosmic mystery, letting you tune danger, mysticism, and faction politics for your table.

• References include gritty, lived‑in sci‑fi and quest‑driven storytelling.
• Advice for customizing history, technology, factions, and lifeforms.
• Illustrated scenes and examples to ground tone and visual cues.
• Options for blending horror, politics, humor, or high adventure.

Who is this for: players and storytellers who want a compact, richly illustrated hardcover rulebook for solo campaigns and group play that emphasizes vows, exploration, and improvisation. Starforged suits newcomers to Ironsworn and veteran players alike—anyone who prefers mechanics that drive narrative, adaptable worldbuilding aids, and tactile asset cards for ongoing campaigns.
