The Rawlings SHUT OUT 12" Fastpitch First Base Mitt is a game-ready first base glove built in full-grain leather with Zero Shock padding and an adjustable fit for right-hand throwers.

Designed to meet the needs of developing fastpitch players, this Rawlings first base mitt balances durability, protection, and a fit tailored for female hands. Whether you’re coaching younger players or upgrading a youth glove, this model focuses on consistent catches and comfortable wear during long innings.

How does this mitt improve first base play?

This mitt’s 12-inch size and Single Post Double Bar web deliver a wide, secure pocket for scooping throws and snagging errant balls. The webbing design keeps the pocket visible so you can track the ball into the glove, while the Zero Shock palm padding reduces sting on hard catches.

• 12" circumference suited for first base reach and scoops
• Single Post Double Bar web enhances pocket stability and visibility
• Zero Shock palm padding dampens impact for repeat catches

What materials and construction make this glove durable?

Rawlings built this mitt from full-grain leather, offering a robust outer layer that resists wear from frequent play. Reinforced stitching and quality tanning keep the glove shape stable, so it maintains performance season after season with minimal maintenance.

• Full-grain leather face and shell for long-term durability
• Reinforced seams and quality leather lacing for structure retention
• Factory-prepped (80%) for easier at-home finishing break-in

How does the fit and break-in suit young female athletes?

The Shut Out series is sized and contoured for smaller hands, offering tailored comfort and control for female fastpitch players aged roughly 8–14. An adjustable Velcro strap and pull-strap closure let athletes fine-tune the fit, while the mostly factory break-in means the glove feels playable quickly without sacrificing a custom feel.

• Adjustable Velcro strap for customized wrist fit
• Pull-strap closure for extra security and comfort
• 80% factory, 20% player break-in for fast playability

Will this mitt work for games and practices?

• Zero Shock palm protects during repeated impacts
• Sturdy construction tolerates frequent use and field conditions
