Rawlings Youth Ash Wood Baseball Bat, 27" -7.5 Stars & Stripes Grip, Ultra-Balanced Lightweight

Designed for players 13 and under who want the authentic feel of a wood bat without extra weight, this Rawlings Player Preferred youth model combines premium ash construction with a youth-specific Y62 barrel profile. The result is a responsive, lighter swing that helps developing hitters accelerate through the zone. Finished in a red, white, and blue palette with a Stars & Stripes grip, the bat delivers both performance-oriented details and eye-catching style.

How does the ash construction affect swing and feel?

Ash is a naturally lighter wood with a wider grain pattern, which gives this bat increased flex and a more forgiving touch compared with denser woods. That makes it easier for younger athletes to generate bat speed while still experiencing the traditional feedback of a wood bat.

• Premium ash wood for a lighter overall weight and natural flex.
• Wider grain improves wood pliability and feel at contact.
• Maintains the sound and feedback of a genuine wood bat.

What does the -7.5 drop and Y62 barrel profile mean for youth hitters?

The -7.5 drop weight creates a significantly lighter bat relative to its length, making it easier for youth players to control and speed up their swing. The Y62 barrel profile is tuned for balance, offering an even weight distribution that helps hitters swing through the zone with speed and repeatable mechanics.

• -7.5 drop weight promotes quick bat acceleration for smaller/starter players.
• Y62 ultra-balanced barrel aids smooth, controlled swings.
• Pro-cupped end and 7/8" handle enhance comfort and grip control.

What comfort and handling features are included?

Rawlings adds player-focused details like a 7/8" handle diameter for a secure, youth-friendly grip and a pro-cupped end to lower end-weight and improve balance. The Stars & Stripes grip tape not only adds visual flair but also increases tack and comfort for improved hand feel.

• 7/8" handle for a natural, controlled grip for smaller hands.
• Pro-cupped end reduces knob-end heft for balanced swings.
• Patriotic grip tape adds tacky comfort and standout styling.

Who is this bat for? The Rawlings Player Preferred 27" -7.5 ash bat is aimed at youth players (typically 13 and under) who are transitioning to wood or want a lighter wood option to develop swing speed, timing, and contact consistency. It’s well suited for coaches and parents seeking a durable, performance-minded wood bat that preserves traditional wood feedback while making it easier for young hitters to produce fast, controlled swings. Choose this bat if you want authentic wood performance with a youth-tailored balance and a distinct red, white, and blue look.
