SMITH Descend MIPS Ski & Snowboard Helmet Matte Black Medium — Koroyd Impact Zones, Ventilated Comfort

The SMITH Descend MIPS Helmet in Matte Black (Medium) is a low-profile, ventilated ski and snowboard helmet that combines Koroyd impact zones with MIPS for advanced energy management while remaining light and comfortable.

The Descend MIPS blends modern safety technology with user-friendly features so you can focus on the run instead of your gear. Built with in-mold construction and zonal Koroyd integrated alongside a MIPS rotational protection layer, it meets ASTM F2040 and CE EN 1077:2007 standards. Thoughtful ventilation, anti-odor lining, and an easy micro-adjust dial make it a practical choice for all-day mountain use.

How does this helmet manage impacts without adding bulk?

The Descend uses a one-piece in-mold shell bonded to EPS foam for a durable yet lightweight core. Koroyd energy-absorbing tubes are placed strategically to control linear impact energy while the MIPS liner addresses rotational forces from oblique impacts.

• In-mold shell fused to EPS foam for low weight and strength
• Zonal Koroyd panels for progressive energy absorption
• MIPS brain protection system to reduce rotational motion
• Certified to ASTM F2040 and CE EN 1077:2007 safety standards

Will I stay comfortable and fog-free when skiing or boarding?

Yes — ventilation and eyewear integration are central to the Descend’s design. Dual-regulator climate control allows one-handed front and rear vent adjustments, while AirEvac channels work with Smith goggles to direct airflow and reduce fogging.

• 16 total vents for consistent airflow across the head
• Dual-regulator controls for quick vent tuning on the move
• AirEvac system pairs with Smith goggles to limit lens fogging
• Ionic+ liner that reduces odor as you sweat

How easy is it to get a secure, personalized fit?

Adjustable fit is fast and intuitive: a low-profile dial lets you tighten or loosen the helmet with one hand, even while wearing gloves. Snapfit SL2 ear pads are removable for warmer days and are compatible with audio systems so you can stay connected without sacrificing fit.

• Micro-adjust dial for on-the-fly sizing changes
• Removable Snapfit SL2 ear pads for seasonal flexibility
• Audio-chip compatible ear pads for music or communication devices
• Medium size designed to match standard head circumference ranges

What practical features make it ready for real mountain days?

The Descend balances protection with convenience: the shell shape is low-profile for clear goggle overlap, vents are reachable without removing gloves, and the anti-odor lining keeps the helmet fresher between trips. These details add up to a dependable go-to helmet for varied skiing and riding conditions.

• Low-profile shape for consistent goggle fit and sightlines
• One-handed vent controls compatible with winter gloves
• Ionic+ lining reduces sweat odors for longer wearability
• Durable finish in matte black for classic, understated style
