Sun-Glo Shuffleboard Powder Speed #5 – Medium-Slow for 3.7–4.9 m Tables, 2×16 oz Shakers, Silicone Formula for Controlled Shots

Sun-Glo Speed #5 (Five Star) is a medium-slow shuffleboard powder formulated to slow play on 12–16 foot tables so you gain precise control and predictable shot placement.

When a standard medium powder makes your puck race to the end and a slow formula kills roll, you need a balanced solution. Sun-Glo Speed #5 sits between recreational and tournament speeds, tuned to deliver extra friction without sacrificing smooth glide. Made in the USA by Sun-Glo — a name trusted by shuffleboard leagues and players since 1935 — this two-pack of 16 oz shaker cans helps you dial in consistent, repeatable performance on mid-length boards.

How does Speed #5 change shot behavior on 12–16 foot tables?

Speed #5 reduces excessive skid while preserving enough roll for accurate positioning. It gives the puck a steadier deceleration so you can focus on weight and line rather than compensating for runaway slides. Expect fewer overshots and more opportunities for tactical shots like blocks and bumps.

• Delivers medium-slow friction specifically tuned for 12–16 ft surfaces.
• Promotes predictable stopping distances for placement shots.
• Reduces drift and overshoot compared with faster powders.

What makes this powder different from other Sun-Glo speeds?

Unlike faster five-star or tournament blends, this formula increases contact resistance just enough to tame mid-table length. Its silicone ball-bearing base resists clumping and spreads evenly across the playing surface for consistent performance. The result is a blend engineered for tactical play rather than outright speed.

• Medium-slow rating designed between recreational and tournament grades.
• Silicone ball-bearing formulation for even distribution and anti-clumping.
• Manufactured to consistent batch standards for repeatable table behavior.

How should I apply and maintain Speed #5 for best results?

Shake a light, even layer from the 16 oz shaker can across the playing surface before matches or practice. Reapply sparingly — small adjustments are more effective than heavy coating — and brush or sweep off excess according to your routine. Regular, moderate use preserves table finish and keeps the powder performing predictably.

• Use a light, uniform sprinkle across the table before play.
• Adjust quantity in small increments to fine-tune speed.
• Brush off excess powder and reapply as needed to maintain consistency.

Will Speed #5 protect my table’s surface while changing speed?

Yes — the silicone-based formulation helps minimize abrasion and resists clumping that can scratch finishes. Sun-Glo designs its powders to balance performance with surface care, so repeated use won’t accelerate wear if you follow regular cleaning and maintenance practices. This product aims to enhance playability without compromising the table.

• Silicone components reduce friction-related abrasion on finishes.
• Anti-clumping properties prevent grainy buildup that can damage boards.
• Made in the USA to strict manufacturing standards for quality and purity.

Who is this for? Sun-Glo Speed #5 (Five Star) is for competitive recreational players, league members, and tournament directors who maintain 12–16 foot tables and want a controlled, tactical game. The pack of two 16 oz shaker cans is convenient for club use, home game rooms, and practice sessions where consistent, repeatable speed is essential.
