Therm-a-Rest MondoKing 3D Self-Inflating Sleeping Pad XX-Large 80x30 in — 4.25" R-7, Plush Couples Comfort

The Therm-a-Rest MondoKing 3D XX-Large is a 4.25-inch self-inflating camping mattress built for maximum warmth, stability, and couples-style comfort at basecamp or in an RV.

Designed for car campers, expedition bases, and anyone wanting a plush, ground-level bed, this oversized pad blends thick thermal foam and air channels to deliver an R-value of 7.0. Its StrataCore construction sandwiches a continuous layer of insulating foam among alternating ridges of air and foam, creating a stable, cushioned surface that protects you from rocks, roots, and cold ground. The XX-Large 80 x 30-inch size offers generous length and width while pairing with a second MondoKing for a double-width sleep system.

How does the MondoKing 3D keep you warm in cold conditions?

The pad achieves high insulation through its StrataCore foam layer and a substantial 4.25-inch thickness, which reduces conductive heat loss to the ground. An R-value of 7.0 makes it suitable for three-season use and many colder conditions where insulating performance matters most.

• Continuous thermal foam layer for even warmth across the pad
• Alternating air and foam ridges reduce cold spots and compressive heat loss
• 4.25 inches of cushioning creates an insulating air gap from the ground
• Works well with additional insulation like an underquilts on cold nights

How easy is it to set up, pack, and adjust firmness?

Two one-way TwinLock valves speed inflation and deflation: one valve lets the compressible core draw air as the pad self-inflates, while the other offers a dedicated out port for fast deflation. Included is a PFAS-free stuff sack that doubles as a pump sack for breath-free inflation and quicker setup in camp.

• TwinLock system: separate inflate and deflate valves for efficient control
• Self-inflating foam core reduces manual pumping time
• Stuff sack can be used to add air without breathing directly into the pad
• Compresses to a compact 31 x 10.3 inches for transport and storage

How comfortable and stable is the MondoKing 3D for side-sleepers or couples?

3D construction includes vertical sidewalls that increase usable sleeping surface and prevent roll-off, while the plush stretch-knit top layer improves comfort and reduces noise. Because multiple MondoKing pads mate securely, two pads create a near-seamless double bed for couples who want a roomy, stable sleep platform.

• 3D vertical sidewalls expand usable width for rolling or sleeping angled
• Stretch-knit face fabric offers a softer, quieter sleep surface
• Pairs with another MondoKing mattress to form a wide double bed
• Thick foam reduces pressure points on hips and shoulders
