Weaver Equine Kids Waxed Nylon Lasso Rope 5/16" x 6.1 m — lightweight, wax-finished for beginner practice

The Weaver Equine Waxed Nylon Kids Lasso Rope is a lightweight, wax-finished 5/16" x 20' lariat built for young ropers to practice control, accuracy, and safe rope handling.

Designed specifically for beginners and junior riders, this kids' nylon lasso pairs a medium lay construction with a wax coating and a rawhide burner to deliver manageable stiffness, improved grip, and increased durability. Bright color options boost visibility for parents and coaches while the 20-foot length and thin diameter keep the rope easy to swing and throw for small hands. It’s intended as a practice tool for learning roping fundamentals rather than heavy-duty ranch work.

How does the waxed finish help a child learn to lasso?

The waxed surface adds light stiffness and tack, making the loop hold its shape and sit better in the hand. That gives beginners clearer feedback on their throw and makes teaching corrections more effective. Wax also reduces slippage on sweaty or gloved hands so practice sessions stay productive.

• Waxed nylon increases grip without being sticky.
• Medium lay keeps the loop predictable for beginners.
• Helps the rope open and close consistently during practice.

What features make this rope kid-friendly and safe?

This lariat is sized and weighted for young users: 5/16" thickness and 20' length give ample reach while remaining easy to control. A rawhide burner protects the splice and prevents premature fraying, extending useful life. Bright colors improve visibility so parents and instructors can quickly spot the rope in motion.

• Thin 5/16" profile fits small hands and reduces fatigue.
• 20' length is long enough for skill-building, short enough for control.
• Rawhide burner strengthens the end that sees the most wear.
• Vibrant color options increase visibility and appeal to kids.

Can this rope withstand regular practice and rough play?

Yes—nylon construction plus a protective burner makes this lasso resilient to repeated throws and outdoor use. The waxed medium lay gives a balance of durability and flexibility so it won’t collapse or kink easily during drills. Still, it’s optimized for learning and play rather than heavy-duty ranch pulling.

• Nylon fibers resist abrasion and retain shape with use.
• Wax finish protects the strands and improves longevity.
• Rawhide burner prevents fraying at the most stressed point.

How should parents and instructors introduce this rope to young riders?

Start with basic swinging and loop-control drills in a clear, open space away from traffic and livestock. Supervise tosses and progress to stationary target practice before moving to moving targets or mounted drills. Encourage proper grip, stance, and safety habits—gloves and eye protection can be used for extra caution.

• Begin with short, supervised sessions to build coordination.
• Use cones or non-livestock targets for safe practice.
• Teach proper hand position and follow-through first.

Who is this for? The Weaver Equine Waxed Nylon Kids Lasso Rope is ideal for children roughly ages 4–7 who are starting roping lessons, backyard practice, or rodeo-style play. It works well for parents, riding instructors, and camp programs looking for a durable, easy-to-handle practice lariat that balances training performance with kid-friendly design. If you need a lightweight, visible, and resilient rope to teach fundamentals and build confidence in young ropers, this model fits the bill.
