BV 4FT Security Cable Lock — 10mm Braided Steel (Pair), Weatherproof Double-Loop Ends

BV's 4FT Heavy-Duty Security Cable Lock with loops is a 10mm (3/8") braided steel cable pair with vinyl coating and sealed double-loop ends designed to work with padlocks, U-locks, or disc locks for versatile outdoor and portable security.

These BV cable locks combine seven-strand braided steel construction and a weather-resistant vinyl jacket to balance cut resistance, flexibility, and portability. Available in multiple lengths and thicknesses, the 4FT 10mm option is intended for medium-range needs like securing bikes, grills, gates, or watercraft when paired with your preferred lock. The double-looped, sealed ends and reinforced steel collars make attachment to most locking devices simple while minimizing wear on the cable and the object you're protecting.

How strong is the 10mm braided steel cable for everyday security?

The 10mm (3/8") cable uses seven braided steel strands to increase resistance to simple cutting and bending while remaining flexible enough to route through frames and anchors. Reinforced collars at the looped ends help maintain structural integrity where stress concentrates.

• 10mm (3/8") diameter braided steel — improved resistance versus thinner cables.
• Seven-strand braid configuration for better tensile behavior and flexibility.
• Reinforced steel collars at the loops to prevent fraying and failure at attachment points.
• Designed to pair with padlocks, U-locks, or disc locks for layered security.

Will this cable hold up outdoors or in wet conditions?

The cable features a vinyl outer coating that shields the steel from direct exposure, reducing rust risk and protecting finished surfaces from scratches. The sealed, double-loop ends and protective jacket make these cables suitable for repeated outdoor use, though long-term exposure to saltwater or extreme conditions will still require routine inspection and maintenance.

• Durable vinyl jacket protects against weather, abrasion, and fading.
• Sealed loop ends prevent water ingress at termination points.
• Lightweight construction makes it convenient to carry and deploy outdoors.
• Periodic cleaning and lubrication recommended for prolonged coastal use.

How do I use these cable locks with my existing padlock or U-lock?

BV cables come with sealed double-loop ends that allow you to thread one end through the other, your frame, or an anchor point and then secure the free loop with virtually any compatible padlock or shackle. The loops are sized to accept common lock shackles, making them a practical addition to an existing security setup.

• Thread cable through frame, anchor, or object, then secure loop to loop with your lock.
• Compatible with padlocks, U-locks, disc locks, and other locking mechanisms.
• Flexible enough to wrap around irregular shapes like grill legs or kayak handles.
• Pairing with a high-security padlock improves overall theft deterrence.

What sizes are available and how do I pick the right one?

BV offers a selection of lengths and two thickness families: a 5mm (3/16") option for shorter, lower-profile needs and 10mm (3/8") in 4FT, 7FT, 15FT, and 30FT lengths for larger or more demanding situations. Select the shortest length that still allows comfortable routing around your objects and anchor points; extra length can be coiled for storage but may create additional leverage for attackers.

• 5mm / 2.5FT — compact, lightweight for short, low-risk use.
• 10mm / 4FT — compact but stronger, good for bikes and small items.
• 10mm / 7FT, 15FT, 30FT — for larger items, multiple objects, or fixed anchors.
• Choose length based on anchor distance and how many items you need to secure.

Who is this for: The BV 4FT Heavy-Duty Security Cable Lock pair is aimed at riders, homeowners, and outdoor enthusiasts who want a portable, weather-tolerant cable to combine with their preferred lock. It’s useful for securing bicycles, motorcycles, grills, patio furniture, gates, and small watercraft where flexibility, ease of use, and rust-resistant coating matter. If you need a balance of cut resistance and maneuverability in a medium-length cable, this 10mm BV option provides that versatility when used as part of a layered security solution.
