Crankbrothers Pedal Cleats Standard Release 6° Float Gold — Brass MTB 2-bolt, Durable Secure Engagement

Crankbrothers Pedal Cleat Standard Release 6 Degree Float Gold are brass, 6°-float MTB cleats that deliver a secure, efficient pedal engagement for two-bolt mountain bike shoes.

These gold cleats are Crankbrothers' higher-float option for riders who want a confident connection to their clip-in pedals without sacrificing ease of release. Built from premium-strength brass and optimized for the company’s clip-in pedal platform, they balance low weight, long wear life, and dependable performance on trails and cross-country courses. The cleats fit the common two-bolt bolt pattern used on mountain bike shoes and come with plastic spacing shims to fine-tune fit and stack height.

How do these cleats change pedal engagement and power transfer?

These cleats are engineered to create a solid interface between shoe and pedal so pedaling inputs go directly into the drivetrain. The brass material resists deformation under load, keeping the engagement surface stable during long rides and hard efforts. Expect a firm bite that minimizes unwanted play and improves consistency across pedal strokes.

• 6° float for controlled lateral movement while pedaling
• Premium brass surfaces maintain shape and contact precision
• Designed specifically for Crankbrothers clip-in pedal geometry
• 2-hole bolt pattern for secure shoe attachment and compatibility

Will these cleats be durable enough for heavy trail use?

The Crankbrothers gold cleats are made from durable brass that stands up to repeated clipping, scraping, and side-loads common on technical trails. At roughly 30 grams per pair, they provide a strong wear surface without adding significant weight. Riders who frequently dismount and walk on rough terrain will still see longer life compared with softer materials.

• Threaded brass body resists wear and flattening
• Lightweight 30 g per pair keeps overall shoe weight low
• Plastic spacers included to reduce stress on mounting bolts
• Proven in cross-country race use by elite athletes

How easy is it to install and adjust these cleats on my shoes?

Installation follows the familiar two-bolt MTB cleat procedure and matches standard shoe mounting holes. Crankbrothers supplies plastic spacing shims to fine-tune fore-aft and stack-height alignment, helping you dial in release feel and prevent interference with sole tread. Tighten to manufacturer torque recommendations and check alignment before your first ride.

• Fits industry-standard two-hole bolt pattern for MTB shoes
• Includes plastic spacing shims for precise shoe clearance
• Simple fore-aft and rotational adjustments to set preferred release
• Compatible with all Crankbrothers clip-in pedals for straightforward pairing

Which float option should I choose: 0° or 6°?

Choose the 6° gold cleats if you want a bit of lateral movement to relieve knee stress while still keeping a positive engagement feel. The 0° silver cleats lock the foot more directly to the pedal for maximum positional consistency. Neither option changes the release angle; both use the same 15° release characteristic of Crankbrothers' standard system.

• 6° (gold) — controlled lateral float for natural foot movement
• 0° (silver) — fixed position for riders seeking no float
• Both options use a 15° release angle for reliable exits
• Choose based on personal comfort and riding style

Who is this for: The Crankbrothers Pedal Cleat Standard Release 6 Degree Float Gold set is aimed at mountain and cross-country riders who want a strong, reliable cleat with a small amount of lateral float. It’s a good match for racers and committed trail riders who clip in regularly, expect long-lasting hardware, and want straightforward compatibility with two-bolt MTB shoes and Crankbrothers clip-in pedals. If you demand durable engagement and a controlled 6° float without extra weight, these gold cleats are built for that purpose.
