Riddell Youth Rib Protector — Large Black/Silver, 30" Coverage, Adjustable Fit

The Riddell Youth Rib Protector in Large (Black/Silver) is an adjustable, universal-fit rib and lower-back guard designed to attach to most youth shoulder pads for added on-field coverage.

Built as an O.E.M. replacement part, this rib protector gives youth players extra coverage across the ribs and lower spine without altering their shoulder-pad fit. It measures approximately 30 inches long by 5.5 inches high, includes the attachment hardware, and is crafted to integrate with a wide range of shoulder-pad models so coaches, parents, and players can add protection quickly and affordably.

How does the rib protector attach to shoulder pads?

The unit comes with the necessary hardware to mount directly to the shoulder-pad shell or straps, using common attachment points found on most youth pads. Installation is straightforward and reversible, allowing teams to swap or remove the guard based on playing conditions or practice drills.

• Includes mounting hardware for effortless installation
• Designed to align with common pad straps and shell holes
• Compatible with most youth shoulder-pad models for easy integration

What kind of fit and adjustability does it offer?

Riddell's rib protector features an adjustable design so you can fine-tune coverage across different chest and torso sizes while maintaining comfort. The flexible attachment system lets coaches secure a snug fit without compressing natural movement, keeping the pad in place during contact.

• Adjustable length and strap positioning for a custom fit
• Large size tailored to older youth players or broader frames
• Low-profile profile preserves mobility and pad ergonomics

What areas of the body does this guard protect?

This protector targets the ribs and lower back region to supplement the protection provided by shoulder pads, helping to disperse impact across a wider surface area. It is not a substitute for primary protective gear but is used as an add-on to increase coverage where hits commonly occur.

• Covers ribs laterally across a 30" span for broad protection
• 5.5" vertical height designed to shield lower ribs and upper lumbar
• Works in tandem with shoulder pads to expand protective coverage

Can teams use this as a replacement part or for spare inventory?

Yes — being an O.E.M. part from Riddell, this protector suits teams that need authentic replacement components or want spares for equipment bags. Its universal compatibility and included hardware make it a practical option for sideline repairs and season-long maintenance.

• O.E.M. specification for authentic fit and finish
• Ideal for inventorying as spare or replacement gear
• Durable build meant to withstand regular practices and games
