Dumbbell Racks

Dumbbell Racks: frequently asked questions

Which dumbbell rack is best for adjustable dumbbells?

A dedicated stand with a cradle at waist height, such as the POWERBLOCK, niffgaff or Josmimic H-frame stands, is the best fit. Check the maximum dumbbell length the cradle takes and that the stand matches your dumbbell model; FF Finer Form, for example, makes a stand specifically for NUOBELL 550 and 580 dumbbells.

How much weight capacity does a dumbbell rack need?

Add up every dumbbell you plan to store, then choose a rack rated comfortably above that total, allowing for future purchases. A set from 2 kg to 20 kg in 2 kg steps already weighs about 220 kg in pairs. Sturdy three-tier racks rated around 300 to 500 kg leave room to grow.

A-frame or tiered dumbbell rack?

A-frame racks hold dumbbells vertically by the handle, take up little floor space and suit light to medium sets. Tiered shelf racks hold larger, heavier pairs horizontally and are easier to load and unload, but need more floor width. Tiered racks with angled shelves stop round dumbbells rolling off.

Will a dumbbell rack fit hex dumbbells?

Hex dumbbells sit flat, so most shelf racks and A-frame racks take them. Check the shelf depth against the dumbbell's full length, and the slot width on an A-frame against the handle diameter. Very heavy hex dumbbells are usually better on a low, sturdy tiered rack than on a tall A-frame.
