Sports Unlimited Football Backplate — Universal-Fit Youth & Adult Lower-Back Guard with Ventilated Foam

Sports Unlimited Football Backplate is a vented, universal-fit plastic back plate with foam padding that adds lower-back coverage to most shoulder pads for youth and adult players.

Engineered to attach to a wide range of shoulder-pad designs, this back plate pairs a rigid outer shell with ventilated foam to balance protection, comfort and breathability. Available in adult and youth dimensions, it comes with pre-drilled holes and PVC strap attachments so you can mount it on most brands of pads and fine-tune fit across three strap positions.

How does this back plate improve coverage without limiting movement?

The molded plastic shell shields the lower spine and kidney area while cutouts and ventilated foam preserve airflow and flexibility. Its lightweight construction keeps bulk down so athletes retain the range-of-motion they need for sprinting, bending and tackling.

• Rigid outer shell for impact coverage with minimal weight
• Ventilated foam reduces heat buildup and increases comfort
• Trim profile and flexible strap mounting keep mobility intact

Will it fit my existing shoulder pads and how do I adjust it?

The Sports Unlimited back plate is designed as a universal accessory that fits most shoulder-pad models using the supplied PVC straps and pre-drilled mounting holes. Installation offers three strap-level settings so you can raise or lower the plate to match your torso length and play style.

• Includes hardware and PVC straps for fast attachment to pre-drilled holes
• Three strap levels let you customize vertical placement
• Adult and youth sizes accommodate different body types

What sizes are available and how do I choose between adult and youth?

Two sizes are offered to suit common age groups: the adult back plate measures 11.25" wide by 7.25" tall, while the youth model measures 9.75" wide by 5.75" tall. Choose the size that aligns with your shoulder-pad footprint and the length of your torso for proper lower-back coverage.

• Adult: 11.25" W x 7.25" H for high-school and adult pads
• Youth: 9.75" W x 5.75" H for younger players and smaller pads
• Measure existing pad width and torso length for best fit

How durable and field-ready is the construction?

This back plate combines a sturdy plastic exterior with ventilated foam that resists compression and shedding, giving consistent coverage play after play. Brightly colored patterns not only add visual style but are printed on durable materials meant to withstand regular practices and games.

• Lightweight, impact-resistant plastic shell
• Ventilated foam padding that retains shape and comfort
• Pre-drilled holes and included hardware for secure mounting

Who is this for? The Sports Unlimited Football Backplate is for players, coaches and equipment managers who want extra lower-back coverage without sacrificing mobility. It works well for youth leagues, high-school teams and adult recreational players who use standard shoulder-pad systems and need a reliable, adjustable back-plate solution that installs quickly and stands up to regular use.
