Riddell SpeedFlex Youth Helmet, White Large, PSIP side-impact protection & Flex shell

The Riddell SpeedFlex Youth Helmet in white (Large) is a varsity-grade football helmet engineered with PSIP side-impact protection, a flexible Flex shell, and an adjustable Ratchet-Loc chin strap for a secure, performance-focused fit.

This youth-sized helmet pairs Riddell's research-driven safety features with on-field comfort and fit tools used at higher levels of play. Built from a durable polycarbonate shell and designed for unisex teens, the SpeedFlex balances impact-management technology, tool-free adjustment points, and scale-appropriate interior padding so younger players can wear a pro-style helmet that fits reliably.

How does the helmet manage side impacts for youth players?

The SpeedFlex uses Riddell's patented PSIP (Padded Side Impact Protection) system to address forces originating at the mandible and side of the head. PSIP adds a targeted, research-based pad that helps control force transfer on lateral impacts without adding bulk.

• Patented PSIP mandible padding positioned to absorb and redirect side impact forces
• Engineered pad geometry for youth helmet shell volumes
• Integrated into inner liner for consistent placement and retention

What is the Flex system and why does it matter during play?

The Flex system is a multi-component approach that adds engineered flexibility to the helmet shell, face mask, and attachment points to reduce the amount of impact energy passed to the wearer. That flexibility helps components move and deform in controlled ways during contact events, while preserving the helmet’s overall integrity.

• Flexible polycarbonate shell sections designed to flex under load
• Face mask and hinge-clip connections that allow controlled movement
• Compatibility with Riddell face masks and replacement parts for maintenance

How do I get the right fit and keep the helmet secure?

The SpeedFlex Large helmet includes an Occipital Lock and a Ratchet-Loc chin strap attachment to help dial in a stable, repeatable fit. Those features make on-field adjustments straightforward and help maintain consistent positioning during play.

• Occipital Lock provides rear-head stabilization for proper helmet placement
• Ratchet-Loc chin strap attachment allows fast, secure tightening and micro-adjustments
• Included interior pads tailored to youth head shapes for comfort and fit customization

What materials and care considerations should coaches and parents know?

The helmet uses a rugged polycarbonate outer shell and engineered internal padding; it’s built for typical football conditions but requires mindful care. Avoid machine drying and follow Riddell’s cleaning guidelines to preserve shell and pad performance.

• Durable polycarbonate shell for varsity-level durability
• Removable/replaceable interior components for cleaning and service
• Do not machine dry; follow hand-cleaning and air-dry instructions
