Sports Unlimited Football Backplate — Universal Fit Adult & Youth, Ventilated Lightweight Lower-Back Protection

Sports Unlimited Football Backplate is a ventilated, lightweight plastic back protector that snaps onto most shoulder pads to add lower-back coverage for adults and youth players.

Built to fit a wide variety of shoulder-pad brands, this universal back plate increases coverage across the lower spine and tailbone area without adding bulk. It pairs a durable molded plastic shell with foam padding and PVC straps, delivering a balance of protection, mobility, and breathability for practices and games. Available in adult and youth sizes and sold in vivid patterns, it installs quickly using the included hardware and pre-drilled holes.

How does the back plate attach to different shoulder pads?

The Sports Unlimited back plate uses three adjustable PVC strap levels and pre-drilled mounting holes to work with most shoulder-pad styles. Included hardware helps secure the plate to pads that accept aftermarket back plates, making the fit stable during play without complicated modification.

• Three strap positions accommodate different pad heights and player builds
• Pre-drilled holes align with common shoulder-pad mounting points
• Hardware provided for straightforward attachment—no extra parts needed

Will the adult and youth sizes fit my player comfortably?

Yes. The adult model measures 11.25" wide by 7.25" tall, while the youth option is 9.75" by 5.75", matching typical pad dimensions for each age group. The range of sizes and adjustable straps let you fine-tune placement so the plate covers the lower back without restricting shoulder movement.

• Adult dimensions: 11.25" x 7.25" for larger frames
• Youth dimensions: 9.75" x 5.75" scaled for younger players
• Adjustable straps allow height and tension adjustments for comfort

What materials and ventilation features are included?

The back plate combines a lightweight, impact-resistant plastic shell with ventilated foam padding to reduce heat buildup and maintain comfort during extended use. The foam layer cushions while perforations allow airflow so players stay cooler during practices and games.

• Molded plastic shell for durability without excessive weight
• Ventilated foam padding improves breathability and comfort
• Bright patterns increase on-field visibility while providing coverage

Does the plate change mobility or interfere with play?

The design prioritizes a low-profile fit to preserve shoulder and torso mobility while adding coverage to the lower back area. Because the plate mounts behind the shoulder pads and uses adjustable straps, it moves with the pad system and minimizes restriction during running, bending, and tackling drills.

• Low-profile shape reduces bulk behind the pads
• Strap attachment secures plate to move with the pads, not against them
• Lightweight construction keeps added mass to a minimum

Who is this for: The Sports Unlimited Football Backplate is designed for youth and adult football players who want extra lower-back coverage added to their existing shoulder pads. It’s a practical option for teams, parents, and individual players seeking a quick, adjustable upgrade that fits most pad brands—especially useful for athletes who need modest additional coverage without sacrificing mobility or adding heavy equipment.
